Leaf Launcher

2009-12-16 13:25 - 0 Comments

The Leaf Launcher is a device that loads leaves into the leaf launcher bag and launches them out of your yard. After the bag is full and totally compressed, you the slide the lid on. You can then aim through the telescope on top and pull the trigger. The leaves will go flying up to 30 feet. It depends on the wind and if the leaves are wet, though. When the leaf launcher bag is empty, you fill it up again and do the process over again. For storage the bag clips off and the stand folds up. The Leaf Launcher is a fun way to rid your yard of leaves and simple to use! Submitted by Chase Tucker

The idea is to incentivize the recycling of hazardous materials such as batteries, which too often end up in the regular garbage with other waste. The thought is to design special disposal containers with transparent sections, where electrical discharges appear as soon as a battery is thrown inside, creating an impression that the battery is being "disintegrated". The more visual example would not only show the individuals that batteries are not ordinary waste and should be treated differently, but also make the recycling process more exciting.

What’s funny about buying at the authomatic machines? Absolutely nothing, and if we’re talking about buying condoms it could become even embarassing.
What if the authomatic machine becomes a win-only slot machine, which gives you a funny forecast of the use of the winning?

We think that kind of object can change the way of thinking about the condoms subject and will remind the importance of having safe sex.

Cigarette Bin

My purpose is to find a fun theory to convince Smokers to throw their cigarettes not on the floor but in a bin. My idea is to paint of yellow and white a normal dust bin with ashtray so that it looks like a cigarette. The message should be clear: this looks like a cigarette and it is for cigarettes. On top of the dust bin, where the ashtray is I would put a cover with sensors that react to heat and pressure underneath. When the sensors react a recorder inside the dust bin will play the sound of a person screaming with pain for the burn.

´Til the last breath. The aim is to persuade the smoker to cast the stubs at the right place. The ashtray screen will give a random emoticon+sound answer when activated, rewarding the citizen for his kind act with a positive and funny gesture, trying to put a smile upon the smoker´s face.

Waiting at crosswalks frustrates all of us, more or less often. We're all in a rush at sometimes and don't feel like waiting. But lots of accidents happen because of jaywalking. How can we make waiting at crosswalks more fun?

Detect Dirty Hands

2009-12-16 09:51 - 0 Comments

How can we make people wash their hands after using public toilets? A new doorknob could be the solution for this problem: After using the toilet, you have to touch the doorknob in order to unlock and open the door. So a doorknob with a stamp on its backside could put some colour or a funny message on your hand. The ink can easily be washed off with some water and soap - but of course, it will remain for a while if you do not wash your hands. So everybody can see that your hands are still dirty.

Have it ever occurred to you, while opening an automatic door by pushing a button, that you are very lazy? Everyday this lazy behavior ends up in thousands of people pushing buttons to open electric doors. Instead we made it funny to open these doors manually. When pushing the door manually, and saving energy, you get a crowd cheering from the loudspeaker installed on top of the door. Afterwards, while leaving the door, you'll feel aroused since the crowd has cheered you up. Perhaps you got some exercise as well. Submitted by Joakim & Tomas.

Little effort, Big differences

We want to show people how with a little action they can contribute to a bigger one, and a better world with it. We are using a teddy bear who lost its owner. With a walkie talkie inside the little bear we ask people for a little trip. Six families helped the bear Morrison to get from one side to another of the Retiro park in Madrid, they just needed to walk for some meters, but together it was a considerable distance.

Kaleidoscope Hand Dryer

How to make people dry their hands using the hand dryer instead of paper towels? When someone move his/her hands above the hand dryer it turns on and at the same time the kaleidoscope. The person will see the kaleidoscope moving only when the hand dryer is turned on. Different kaleidoscopes should be installed in different places thus people will be interested every time they need to dry their hands.

If paper recycling can be made more fun, it would probably make more people acknowledge the importance of paper and paper products recycling. At the same time, if The Fun Theory would be combined with The Wining Something Theory, probably even more people would take a steep in this direction. This is all this project is about. Making people understand how much every sheet of paper means, making people recycle it, in a more pleasant way and also giving something back to them or their community.

Musical Rake

How about a rake that plays music only when you are raking leaves or other debris. It can play at various tempos and beats depending on how hard or fast the rake is being pulled against the ground. It could have many different setting, so that you can make multiple musical notes. A great way to get exercise while doing yardwork at the sametime in a fun way.

Queuing can be fun too!

The idea is to print funny quotes, jokes, or any other funny message on a floor sticker and then apply it where people stand to form a queue (i.e. in front of money tills, ATMs, airport check-in desks, etc). Benefits: - People will have something funny and enjoyable to spend their time with, while waiting in a queue (queuing will become less boring). - People reading these messages will become more relaxed and less frustrated, hence will smile more.

The object of the game is to insert cans inside a huge see-through Piggy Bank to collect it. A bling bling sound play for each cans inserted and the piggy bank indicate the weight level (skinny to big) of the metal collected. So, people can figure out the impact of the metal collected on the environment if its not the case. Submitted by Sandrine.

I thought of a sequence of thick tiles, made up of four buttons, each of which gets illuminated when a person stops on it. It could be a system of weight sensors.
The whole scheme could also include a turnstile at the end of the path. The rotation of this turnstile should make the colors, illuminating the tiles, change. All these changes could catch the attention of other people coming.
