The Ground is Made of Lava!

2009-12-15 21:58 - 0 Comments

The problem i'm attempting to solve is to reawaken interest in public parks which, within cities, often go underused and under appreciated. In the most basic terms, this would be a series of footprints, applied in anything from chalk to plastic cutouts that hammer into the ground (similar to a tent stake) and 'start' at a point near a public park.

The PEPcycle

2009-12-03 11:55 - 0 Comments

Uses a big Perspex dome with a long tube built into a slider leading from a side easy insertion level to a point just over cone leading to the base centre. Like a telescope observatory. At base centre in interior an old wood chipper motor/blade or shredder, geared to be connected to a cycle-powered input. You 'load' PEP bottles into the tube. You then slide it upright (using screwed in 330ml bottle handles) to drop into the cone.

Why spend your money on new stuff? Why throw away things you don't need? How about you could trade your old stuff for a perfectly good object that someone's not using anymore?
Meet new people , save money and energy needed to produce new things , keep track of your old belongings ( how they travel around the world ) and have fun while doing it!

The Vending Machine Project

2009-12-04 09:40 - 0 Comments

Our entry is a sweets vending machine that teaches social responsibility. It gives you the choice of how much you pay. The amount you pay doesn't affect the amount of sweets you get, but the amount of sweets the next people will get. The change is small but cumulative. If people are selfish and pay less money, at the end of the day the machine will be dispensing a very small amount of sweets. If people work for the greater good, at the end of the day they'll be getting lots of sweets for their money. Inskickad av Euan Mils.

Bubble Board

2009-11-23 16:10 - 0 Comments

Playing in the public is often limited to the kids in a family outing to the shopping centres. Parents have little chance to participate in the games that their children are involved in. We ask: How can we create better parent -child interactions in play? The answer proposed: The Bubble Board. Taking advantage of the height of a parent, he or she can create trails of bubbles on an interactive wall as the parent walks or moves pass it.As the parent creates bubbles, the children get to play with these bubbles on the wall, bursting or moulding them by hand.

The territory of a crossing

2009-11-19 14:18 - 0 Comments

Following the philosophy of the fun theory, I propose to remake contemporary crossings in such a way that everybody would like to use them for crossing the road. This crossing, however, can be replaced by another crossing. Imagine you are in the Amazon rainforest and in front of you is an abyss with a wild river at the bottom. One way to get to the other side is to cross a liana bridge just in front of you. You have no other way because there are crocodiles down there. Who of us is not an adventurer? Colourful meal

2009-12-16 19:30 - 0 Comments

Kids are eating less vegetables and more meat and fast food products. These refined foods are bad both for the organism and because of the intensive resources they require. This behavior should be changed towards eating more fruits, vegetables and less refined products, from a young age.

This is way kind should be motivated to eat vegetables. The idea is to let the kid choose what to eat and then give him/her pencils, in each of the colors of the chosen foods, and a contour figure to color. Varied food intake, more colors for drawing!

The Fun Reversible Vending Machine

1. This Fun Reversible Vending Machine looks like a regular RVM but with a computer screen and keyboards.

2. It operates like a game / social networking site, where users gets money in return for putting in recycled products and for correctly answering questions.

3. The questions are based on data from previous users, who when “playing” must; 1. put in a recycled product, 2. provide answer to a very basic fun facts question about oneself (like favorite color), and 3. correctly answer the fun fact question of the previous user.

Cartoon Bus

2009-12-15 20:43 - 0 Comments

A holographic picture is layed on the bottom of buses, such that it can't be seen from any angle. Only when the person is standing the picture can be seen. Thus, by making the picture interesting for younger people there will be seats enough for the older people to sit down. The picture may convey an interesting story for the young, but an uninteresting story for the old. For example, short jokes (like Garfield) or simply pictures of beautiful women are well suited.

Recycling bins

2009-12-16 16:29 - 0 Comments

Recycling bins are often used inappropriately or not used at all. Yes-U-Can is a magnet from all points of view. Its basic design is a very tall inverted translucent bin, where cans fly to the top thanks to a standard low-power electromagnet. Its advantages include:
* People can see their can as it flays over to the top
* Due to its height, the bin is very easy to see even if you are far away
* By catching peoples attention, it collaborates with the amount of garbage collected by the other two standard bins
* It has an increased capacity, only limited by the decided height

A “I bet you can’t “ campaign to spread over the most different issues, such as doing more exercise but also taking care of the environment. Fun is game, game is challenge. People are much more intrigued and motivated if they are ‘teased’. Messages can be displayed on car hangers, stickers, sidewalk signs, public toilets, etc.

Waiting at the Checkout

2009-11-24 15:47 - 0 Comments

This is for the checkouts in supermarkets. The dividers on the transport belt are put in a gully by the cassier. This is at the end of the transport belt, but the dividers tradionally are needed at the beginning. By giving the dividers a sound of people enjoying a ride (little child on bicycle, people in rollercoaster) people will be stimulated to slide the divider to the beginning of the transport belt. Additionally there can be a disappointed noise when the divider is taken out of the gully and a very scared sound when it slides the wrong way.
