Can you fit in the bus?

2009-11-30 16:14 - 0 Comments

A simple, inexpensive and direct idea to make people more active during ‘dead’ times. Think of all the wasted time you spend commuting, stuck in traffic, buses and trains... Springs can be replacing handles or hang together with them, also they could be attached to the bus walls and will be accompanied by fun messages that invite people to try them out. You could also use special strenght-measurer handles, (already existing in the market), to make it more fun!

Green Driving – The Dashboard Game

2009-12-15 16:35 - 0 Comments

A dashboard game that’s inspirer people to drive cars more CO2-friendly.

Background:
There are a few easy things you can do when you drive your car to help reduce the amount of fuel you burn and so cut down on CO2 emissions.

The secret is to help reduce the amount of work your engine has to do, because the greater the workload, the more fuel is burned – so the higher is the CO2 emissions.

Remember the little flipbooks you had when you were a kid? The kind you could flip through quickly and see a little movie, This might be the simplest way of animating a picture but a filmreel doesn't act all that different. Think of all the boring hours you have spent looking out of the window into nothingness while commuting on the Metro train or underground. Now, I am a big fan of grafitti and street art, but it doesn't really serve its purpose in 60 km/h when everything turns into a blur. What if we could use the speed of the train to emulate a lens travelling down a filmreel?

In urban spaces in the united states there is no place for disposing of recyclables (newspapers, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans) except for trash bins or the ground.

The Partytram

People are mostly bored when riding a tram. Not so in the “Partytram”. inter-active motivation clips aim to motivate guests to try out simple dance steps, such as stomping in different rhythms or doing very basic salsa or tango steps.

Parking meter - Mr and Mrs Depressed

2009-12-15 23:17 - 0 Comments

Every object in our surrounding have an emotional connection to us (both good and bad feeling), especially the objects that are commonly seen on the street that people interact with everyday. People hate parking meters, which cause them to lose money. Since, I believe everyone should enjoy their lives, despite the bad things. Therefore, I choose to re-design the physical aspect of the parking meter so that people would have fun when using them. As a result, the parking meter is re-designed with the same function but offer a different value to the user.

Open Sesame

Have it ever occurred to you, while opening an automatic door by pushing a button, that you are very lazy? Everyday this lazy behavior ends up in thousands of people pushing buttons to open electric doors. Instead we made it funny to open these doors manually. When pushing the door manually, and saving energy, you get a crowd cheering from the loudspeaker installed on top of the door. Afterwards, while leaving the door, you'll feel aroused since the crowd has cheered you up. Perhaps you got some exercise as well. Submitted by Joakim & Tomas.

Guitar seat belt

2009-12-15 21:45 - 0 Comments

It's always a great habit to have the seat belt on when driving a car, the thing is that, as a passenger, this habit does not exist as firmly as when driving. So, the question would be: can we get more people to use their seat belt by making it fun to do?. This idea is great either for kids, who are known for disliking seat belts, or for anyone that wants to have fun by being safe.

Gum Collector

Turning something icky into something pretty. The Gum Collector is a fun way to dispose of chewed gum without making a mess. It is a user friendly device that will keep our footphaths clean and no more sticky surprises under your seat. Gum Collectors could be placed in schools, at bus stops, on the street, train stations and pretty much anywhere.

Above the normal button to push when you are waiting for a trafficlight, there are now 4 (depends) extra buttons. Each button refers to a drivelane in front of you. You can recognize this by the matching colors. When a vehicle drives over your walkinglane the button lights up. When you push the lightend button, you hear a, depending on the vehicle, truckhorn, carhorn or bicycle bel. Under the normal waitinglight you see two more lights with a number written in it. Left being your score, right being the highscore.

Chore Clock

Chore Clock

2009-11-20 13:27 - 0 Comments

My idea is a chore clock. Basically all it is is a digital stop watch, like those used in the Olympic Games for track events, hanging in the kitchen over the sink or the dishwasher, or in the washroom hanging over the washer and dryer. On the stop watch it has a record time and the name of whom the record belongs to. This will make doing chores competitive and fun and gives the record holder bragging rights in the house, and hopefully keep kids active and burning calories while pitching in around the house.

Circles of fun

Global warming threatens to submerge and wipe out entire cities over the world. After suffering the most destructive Floods in over 40 years, the people of the Philippines are terrified by the deadly Powers of Nature...The day after Typhoon “Parma” we explored the devastated streets of Manila and asked ourselves one crucial question: Can we make life in Nature FUN again? We slowly proved through the simplest elements of our Environment, like Wood, Sand and a few Circles, that we definitely can...

Boxing Lighting

My idea is to produce street lights powered by dynamo. This stand-alone lighting would basically run itself and also not use any electrical wiring, so that the lights can be placed virtually anywhere. Cities, villages, islands, everywhere. Both government and private persons (as an extra to the city treasury, the government might account for the production and sales) could put up streetlights of this variety. If the LED is used for lighting are also sufficient these lights an entire lifetime.

Hockey Net Recycling

I think a fun way to recycle would change everybodys attitude by making a hockey recycling net. Its basically a hockey net loacated at a Recycle Depot. You have to shoot your cans and bottles in the net and you get points. Its fun and your helping the evironment!

Recycling Stats

Many people do not care about recycling and throw plastics/cans/paper/glass into the same, general purpose, rubbish bin. If we would add a fun incentive to it, their behaviour could change! Monitor your recycling and compete with other people in your recycling bin/your district/your town. Each time a person comes to the recycling bin, he enters his code & password and in this way lets the system know it's him.

Guitar Eco Bag

Eco-friendly Bags are available since long in the markets. However, the use of such bags has been quite low owing to the low emotional value of the bags. for this reason tote bag with guitar graphic has been designed. This serves the dual purpose- one that of use of eco-friendly bags and the other, that of the bag being popular amongst youth and fun to carry.

The Questionable Bus Stop

2009-12-16 16:53 - 0 Comments

The idea is to make the boring task of waiting for the bus more enjoyable On the side wall of the bus stop there is an interactive touch screen. The screen broadcasts Trivia questions from a large questions bank. The idea is that the entire crowd within the bus stop can participate and shout answers, and finally select (by touching) the right answer to their knowledge. This is a fun and bonding experience for everyone in the bus stop, and most importantly it passes the time and makes people forget their busy schedule, at least until the bus arrives.

On the front of the machine will be a LCD screen which is touch sensitive. the person inserts a dollar bill and then chooses which oregami figure they would like to have created. each figure may represent different charities. the machine will be filled with pre-made figures. after the person has chosen a figure, two previously recorded arms come into the screen to make the figure. we will add sound effects(kung fu) and speed up the footage to make it more entertaining. after it is created the figure will be dispensed out of the machine, down a small canal which will empty out into a fountain.

Recycle Booth

2009-11-17 12:31 - 0 Comments

Recycle Booth is a fun way to encourage people to recycle any sort of material. When you place the material (e.g. sheet of unwanted paper) into the corresponding compartment, the machine will be triggered. From then on, you follow the on screen instructions which will guide you through how to use the booth (which will act like a photo/sticker booth) to take a photo and after taking the photo, you can decorate it with the interactive pen attached to the machine and leave an on-screen message, e.g. "I recycled" or your name.
