Speaking signal light for kids

2009-12-15 20:14 - 0 Comments

Every year many children get involved in car accidents by crossing red signal lights.
How can we change it by making it more fun for children to stop at a red light?
An installed box at the signal light talks to the children and plays a song until the light turns green. The box draws the children's attention. They can sing a song until the signal light changes and then safely cross the street.

Recycle Machine

2009-12-16 14:08 - 0 Comments

The problem is that people don’t recycle enough. And it really affects the world. The solution would be that their would be a recycle bin with a basket with a net, like if it was basketball. Then you would throw the bottles, cans, or any recycling material in the recycling basket. Then it will make a winning sound. How it will change the behavior? This way people will like to recycle in a fun way. And more people will recycle. And they will be helping our environment at the same time. Submitted by Esmeralda Gutierrez.

Making Exercise Fun: Working Out vs Parkour

2009-11-19 11:35 - 0 Comments

Although most of us like to be physically active, most of us do not consistently exercise. Maybe that's because we don't enjoy exercising as much as other less physically demanding activities such as watching TV. Parkour is a training method founded by David Belle. It can be practiced anywhere – from urban settings, to playgrounds, to nature, and anywhere with obstacles man made or natural.

The Karaoke bus

Can you make more people use the public transport? What if a bus would have an interactive karaoke system? This bus would know how many people would be inside it and would light or make a sound either on the seat or on the handle where a person would be located. This would mean that it the person would be the one to sing. Screens would be located in different places in side the bus. This could be an attraction to make more people leave their cars at home and at the same time arrive work with a smile!

Poopmaster

Poopmaster is intended to give dog owners an incentive to gather the dog poo and throw it away. The idea is that since some dog owners apparently do not care much for scooping up the poop and it often ends up under the sole of peoples shoes, to add something that encourages dog owners to do the right thing. Now they can scoop it up, go to the "recycling machine" and drop off the bag of poo. The machine then weighs the poo, and dependent on the weight the owner is rewarded with some cash they can give for charity to animal shelters.

Windcar

2009-12-16 08:51 - 0 Comments

It's simple, you add a windmill to the top of the car. Which is connected to the motor and to the battery. All you have to do is is start up the car like normal with fuel, then once you get going, the windmill spins and provides energy for the motor. The battery of the car can charge up and last the car for 10-20 minutes without the windmill spinning, so you can keep power at stoplights etc. The windmill car isn't about not using fuel for cars. It's about using less fuel (only for start-up and back-up energy).

Pong Dryer

In public toilets, where hand dryers are available, most people use toilet paper to dry their hands because it is faster. We are wasting paper using it in the wrong way; this also means we are cutting trees because we can't wait one minute using the hand dryer. Other consequence is more expenses buying more quantities of toilet paper in every place where a public toilet is located.

Eco-Fountain

2009-12-15 17:35 - 0 Comments

The problem: public water fountains are used less because many people buy bottled water under the impression that it is better, when in fact bottled water often comes from the same source as tap water. The difference is, bottled water has lower safety standards, is harmful to the environment, and costs up to 1,900 more per liter. What if drinking from water fountains was fun and educational?
