Musical Joggers

To encourage people to walk more we need to develop comfortable joggers. As people nowadays are very much interested in i-pods these days what we need to do is develop joggers with musical players in them . THE PLAYER WILL ONLY WORK WHEN WHEN ONE IS WALKING WEARING THOSE JOGGERS and music would stop after couple of seconds as you stop. You can have a wide range of songs in your player. As you walk the battery/batteries of musical player would get charged so you need not to worry for that. You can control the play list, volume and other features using a pocket size remote control.

Can you make people recycle more paper? What if the paper you would bring to the recycle bin could be weighted and a discount ticket to buy more paper would be printed according to the amount of paper recycled? This could reduce the amount of paper needed to be produced.

When you read, the eyes needs to go from the end of each line back to start of the next line, covering that ground without picking up any words. When reading, like you are now, gathering information from symbols placed on paper, could you pick up information on your way back from the last line? It would be like watching television without commercials, smooth sure gliding the whole way.

Disco Boxing

Disco Boxing is an interactive boxing game designed for people to explore healthy ways of relieving stress, exercising and having fun. The harder and faster you hit the punching bags, the more lights you are able to light up, similar to a carnival "strong man" game. The video is a clip of a working prototype we built this summer.

Problem tackled: Reducing the cigarette litter in front of public places.
Solution: Make it fun to stub out a cigarette in an ashtray. On the tray is mounted a video screen where some funny aliens are floating around. The screen is equipped with some kind of heat sensing. The goal is to kill aliens by stubbing out cigarettes on them, but aliens flee when they feel some heat, enriching the game with a feedback loop. Funny sounds or animations can be added depending on whether the alien was hit, missed or burned.

The Fundraiser Piggy Bank

2009-11-19 12:04 - 0 Comments

The idea is to ask artists to design or decorate a big PIGGY BANK just like the art cows in Chicago streets These piggy banks are just tall enough so that a 9 year old child can reach the slot at the top of the piggy bank to put in the money (either paper or coins). As soon as the hand with the money passes the light sensor inside the slot near the opening - a sound recording is activated and the theme song - "That's all folks." - of Porky Pig is played. but, instead "Thank you folks." is played.

The Chatter Ladder

2009-12-15 20:13 - 0 Comments

Have you ever noticed how loud kids get in cafeterias? The “Chatter Ladder” is our fun and entertaining solution to this problem! A sound meter in the “Chatter Ladder” detects and registers the noise level every second; the quieter students are, the more points they score and the more lights are illuminated on the ladder. Messages scroll across the top of the screen either congratulating or encouraging quiet conversation! An average score is recorded for each lunch period. Each lunch group tries to attain the highest score and see the most lights light up on the “Chatter Ladder”.

The Trash Gnome

2009-11-07 21:56 - 0 Comments

What happens when you throw something in the trash? Well, a small gnome stores it underground, that's what happens. In a long trashcan with a monitor on top, deposited trash first falls to a platform with a blue-screen where pictures from several angles are taken and a 3d model of the trashed object is then built and inserted into a 3D animation where a gnome/monster stores the trash carefully. further interaction could be acomplished by enabling reaction from the gnome to sound or movement.

The Partytram

People are mostly bored when riding a tram. Not so in the “Partytram”. inter-active motivation clips aim to motivate guests to try out simple dance steps, such as stomping in different rhythms or doing very basic salsa or tango steps.

The Space Snack Rocket

2009-11-20 13:11 - 0 Comments

If we could get kids hooked on fruit and vegetables we would embed a healthy habit for life. My kids love ride-on toys. Every time we go to the supermarket I have to peel them off the ride-on tractor at the shopping mall, so what would happen if a ride-on toy dispensed fruit and veg? Imagine you are a kid again and you get to climb in a rocket that gives you a fun ride with lots of levers to pull and flashing lights and a song about going to the moon. A friendly alien then asks you which space snack you want.

Massa'shoes

Problem: People don’t do exercise because they are too lazy or “too tired”. They also say their feet are tired and hurt.

Solution: If people complain they are too tired and use that as an excuse to not exercise, they will have no excuse because this shoe gives you a massage while you are walking, but it has a sensor that feels that you are actually walking, so that if you are not walking it won’t give you a massage.

I bet you can't

A “I bet you can’t “ campaign to spread over the most different issues, such as doing more exercise but also taking care of the environment. Fun is game, game is challenge. People are much more intrigued and motivated if they are ‘teased’. Messages can be displayed on car hangers, stickers, sidewalk signs, public toilets, etc.

Fortune machine

2009-12-16 15:20 - 0 Comments

Everyone knows that a huge aesthetic problem on the streets in all cities is the chewing gums. People are so lazy that they just spit out their gum on the street not bothering to trough it in the trash bins around town. Therefore we have come up with a solution to this problem. A giant fortune cookie will be placed on places were there can be expected that a lot of chewing gums will end up, usually on squares and other big spaces like train stations and bus stops. A bin is placed right in front of the fortune cookie were you are supposed to put your used chewing gum.

Change Music with Hand Washing

This is an idea for sinks that will sense the movement of a person washing there hands which will then affect the music playing in the restroom. Examples could include beat mods, scratching, loop play, pitch change, tempo control, etc (cross your eyes to match the pictures of the sink and view in 3d). Submitted by Matt Vaughan.

Piano Crosswalk

2009-11-30 12:31 - 0 Comments

As a method of deterring jaywalking (crossing the street out of the crosswalk), make the crosswalk like a piano (similar to the staircase already done). To make it so people don't stay in the crosswalk, make it stop working when the light changes to "DON'T WALK" and start working again for the next cycle. This should make people want to cross the street in the right place at the right time. Hopefully people can continue to cross streets safely to decrease the number of people that get hit by cars.

Magic BoXchange

Your kid got tired of that old toy and keep asking you to buy something different. To encourage them to exchange the old for a different one, just take them to the Magic BoXchange and they will learn that an old thing can be recycled. All they have to do is to insert the old toy inside the box, wait a little bit, and surprise: a different toy will show up on the other side of the machine. You can choose between boys and girls toys', and if they are not satisfied they can keep on exchanging it. Submitted by Silvia Noronha.

Recycle Booth

2009-11-17 12:31 - 0 Comments

Recycle Booth is a fun way to encourage people to recycle any sort of material. When you place the material (e.g. sheet of unwanted paper) into the corresponding compartment, the machine will be triggered. From then on, you follow the on screen instructions which will guide you through how to use the booth (which will act like a photo/sticker booth) to take a photo and after taking the photo, you can decorate it with the interactive pen attached to the machine and leave an on-screen message, e.g. "I recycled" or your name.
