What could make waiting for green light at a road crossing more fun? This simple fix will appeal to people´s love of having their photograph taken. If you cross by red light nothing will happen. But if you wait until the little green man turns up you'll have your photo taken as you cross - just like when riding a roller coaster! The snapshots will be displayed on a big screen on a nearby house side - for you to enjoy fifteen seconds of fame!

Bored with your music? Plug your headphones into the radio system and listen to other people's music. Or DJ your own tracks and get talking with other listeners. If someone tunes into to your show, your light flashes. The more people you have listening, the hotter your light's colour. If you like what you hear, why not say hello to your DJ, they're sitting on the same bus!

On average, one person uses 166 disposable plastic water bottles each year. The consumption of disposable plastic bottles places enormous strain on our environment and only 90% of these water bottles are recycled. Chemicals in disposable plastic bottles are also toxic to human health but many people are hesitant to use drinking fountains because they are uncertain of the water quality. However, in a number of countries across Europe and the US, there are more regulations governing the quality of tap water than bottled water.
Lets encourage people to use dryers instead of paper towels in public bathrooms. Lets add a little harmonica that sounds with the dryer's air and that people can move from side to side. Lets dry dry our hands, have fun and save some trees, all at the same time! Submitted by Lorena Stuani.
Kids are eating less vegetables and more meat and fast food products. These refined foods are bad both for the organism and because of the intensive resources they require. This behavior should be changed towards eating more fruits, vegetables and less refined products, from a young age.
This is way kind should be motivated to eat vegetables. The idea is to let the kid choose what to eat and then give him/her pencils, in each of the colors of the chosen foods, and a contour figure to color. Varied food intake, more colors for drawing!
The idea is to print funny quotes, jokes, or any other funny message on a floor sticker and then apply it where people stand to form a queue (i.e. in front of money tills, ATMs, airport check-in desks, etc). Benefits: - People will have something funny and enjoyable to spend their time with, while waiting in a queue (queuing will become less boring). - People reading these messages will become more relaxed and less frustrated, hence will smile more.
Can we get more people to replace bottled water for drinking fountains by making it fun to do?
BIG PROBLEM: Plastic bottles can take up to 1000 years to biodegradate and currently only 10% of almost 40'000'000 bottles consumed a day worlwide is properly recycled. Bottled water consumed in America in one year requires over 1'500'000 barrels of oil, enough to power up 250,000 homes in the same year.
Often people don't care how increased power consumption impacts our environment. If one could replace traditional power counter in his home by VOME - Voice Of Mother Earth module he would hear sounds like wheeze, buzz, groan or howl each time power consumption increases significantly. On the other hand once we turn out the devices mother earth will let us know how pleased she is by twittering, cooing or any other nature positive sounds. In this way it would be much funnier to save power, what should result in greater savings, isn't that? Submitted by Marcin Maciejewski.
Whenever drivers try to park the car within the borders , a jackpot sound is heard as in a slot machine. A graphic of the slot machine is placed. So people try to park it correctly. With this the parking behavior is changed for better. Submitted of Manoj Manduva
The shopping list, one paper. The ticket of the transport, one paper more. Mmm... chocolate, one paper more for the collection. What you can do with all the garbage in your pockets?... you cant' throw it anywhere. A trash can is a good solution, but, if you don't see anyone? Make a garbage collage! Just take all this papers, add a little of glue and paste it wherever you want, following figure. Thereby you can take part of a big social project, a huge art project with a lots of fun, where every person participates in his creation.
We understood that the concept of fun theory has been created to change trough fun wrong behaviours of the citizens. Since there, we tried to find “wrong behaviours” around us. In fact in Lisbon, our city, you will find two places very dirty: Bairro alto and Santos. They are party places; you can find there plenty of bars and a lot of people, mostly on weekends. Also in those places you don’t find a lot of garbage, that’s why the floor is full of glasses, empty bottles and smoked cigarettes. Nowadays no one does the effort to reach garbage. We decided to change that precise behaviour.
People are often standing still during the day, waiting. We wait in the supermarket queue, at the bus stop and in the metro. Facing utter boredom, wouldn't it be great if we could "have a ball"? Virtual Ball helps people to do some exercise by offering an interactive mirror that augments the user's environment with virtual balls. There are no rules, just simple balls that create endless possibilities for play!

To encourage people to recycle, recycling machines need to serve more than their actual function. The Better day recycling machine rewards the user by telling him different kinds of information regarding the amount of recycling done. In Canada, you get back a deposit while returning empty bottles (plastic or glass). While having the cash back through a receipt, the Better day recycling machine speaks out a sentence and prints it out as the usual receipt gets out. From 1 to 5 bottles the user gets a message to brighten his day (You are a wonderful person).
Despite the well-known fact that their production pollutes the environment, nylon bags are still used in significant amounts all over the world. The main issue that this proposal addresses is how to disencourage people from using nylon bags when they go shopping. My answer is the Puzzle Game. Its rules are simple: each country will be assigned a puzzle that will depict a typical image or story associated with its culture. When a shop’s customers refuse to get a nylon bag, they will obtain a code.
What’s funny about buying at the authomatic machines? Absolutely nothing, and if we’re talking about buying condoms it could become even embarassing.
What if the authomatic machine becomes a win-only slot machine, which gives you a funny forecast of the use of the winning?
We think that kind of object can change the way of thinking about the condoms subject and will remind the importance of having safe sex.

How can we make people wash their hands after using public toilets? A new doorknob could be the solution for this problem: After using the toilet, you have to touch the doorknob in order to unlock and open the door. So a doorknob with a stamp on its backside could put some colour or a funny message on your hand. The ink can easily be washed off with some water and soap - but of course, it will remain for a while if you do not wash your hands. So everybody can see that your hands are still dirty.
How about saving lives with something as simple as a sticker? Hybrid image shows different pictures depending on the distance of the viewer. The idea is using hybrid image on a sticker and stick it to your rear car window. This will warn the car behind you if they get too close and prevent accident.

ICK, germs! They can make you sick. Very sick! Germs (viruses and bacteria in this case) cause respiratory and stomach ailments ranging from drippy noses and mild sore throats to life threatening illnesses such as diarrhea, flu and pneumonia. We spread germs quickly, mostly by touching our nose, eyes, mouth and other people. If people would thoroughly wash their hands for twenty seconds every time they use a public restroom, the number of those illnesses could be greatly reduced. Who says?
Slow Down, Hit The Bullseye, Save Lives. Road Darts can be played anywhere. However, due to the problem of slowing people down too much in a congested area, it is recommended to do testing of Road Darts in a busier residential area first to see if it scales. Metrics -A researcher can monitor the proposed location during busy hours for a defined period (24 hrs) using a radar detection device w/o revealing his or her presence. This creates a control. -Then a traditional speed detection device (that displays the current speed numerically) should be placed at the location.
We asked ourselves, how we can help people have more fun walking to work. We decided to play hopscotch. The video submission depicts the results of our game. We chose the busiest intersection in the Philadelphia business community. We have learned that from Ghana to Cambodia, Peru to Iran, hopscotch is universally played and loved.
